13th Midwest Conference on Protein Folding, Assemblies and Molecular Motions

WHAT:

This one-day meeting of Midwest research laboratories interested in protein folding, aggregation, binding, and dynamics, features talks and posters (from graduate students and postdocs, plus two PIs). Topics include:
1. In vitro experiments: protein folding, binding, aggregation, dynamics
2. In silico approaches: computational models and genome-wide approaches to understanding protein folds, dynamics, and folding mechanisms
3. Proteins in vivo: co-translational folding, roles for molecular chaperones, misfolding/aggregation/amyloid formation, and cellular mechanisms for recognizing and clearing misfolded proteins

WHY:

 (1) To gather Midwestern protein scientists together so we can learn more about each others’ research!
(2) To provide graduate students and postdocs with a forum for presenting their research (talks and posters) results

REGISTRATION. Registration is FREE, but required. Registration closes on: April 20th.

PROGRAM. Meeting begins at 8:50 am (coffee and pastries available at 8:00 am) and will conclude at ~6 pm with a beer/wine/munchies reception. Take a look at last year's program to get a feel for the scope of the conference.

ABSTRACTS. Abstracts are due Friday April 6, 2018. Approximately 10 short talks will be selected from the submitted abstracts!

In addition to talks selected from abstracts, there will be talks given by two invited speakers:
 

- Emily Guinn, Postdoctoral Researcher, University of California - Berkeley (and soon-to-be Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, DePauw University)
- Jonathan Schlebach, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Indiana University

OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATIONS: The Morris Inn is located directly across the street from the Conference Center. Please contact Patricia Clark (pclark1 -at- nd.edu) if you need other assistance finding overnight accommodations.

AREA RESTAURANTS can be found in the South Bend/Mishawaka Visitor Guide, and there are three restaurants on campus, Legends (casual dining), Rohr's (casual dining in the Morris Inn) and Sorin's (more formal dining; also in the Morris Inn).
